Macon man found dead after shooting on Linwood Drive near Bloomfield, police say
A Macon man died Thursday night in a shooting in the Bloomfield area in southwest Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Thursday night, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. Deputies responded to a call about a shooting on the 3800 block of Linwood Drive just off Bloomfield Road and found Dawud Robert Gillion, 28, unresponsive in a house, the sheriff’s office said.
Gillion died at the scene, according to Bibb deputy coroner Richard Robinson. Coroner Leon Jones notified his next of kin.
No one else was injured during the shooting, which was still under investigation Friday morning. It was unclear in the statement what led up to the shooting, or if multiple shots were fired.
Gillion was arrested for aggravated assault in 2018 for a shooting that wounded three people in 2017, court documents and Telegraph archives show.
This incident is still under investigation, anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
