Mildred C Gottfried obituary 1930~2023

Mildred C Gottfried, age 93, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 2, 2023, with her daughter by her side.

Born June 22, 1930 in Neenah, WI, she was one of three daughters of the late Milton and Eleanor Schmerein.

After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in Menasha, WI, she worked as a secretary for the American Can Company. Instead of taking a job opportunity in Texas, she married Daniel J. on September 2. 1950. Her real life of work began the following year with the birth of her first son in 1951. Her final child, of eight, was born in 1966.

Millie enjoyed many evenings with her book of the week. She usually moved through each of them rather quickly, if she thought it was good. She spent some years teaching adults how to read as a literacy volunteer at Coyle Free Library.

She liked camping at the beach and enjoyed many family vacations in the pop-up camper with an add-a-room tent to fit all her kids. She enjoyed/endured long days on the boat with her husband…
