Ochai Agbaji plays for Utah in NBA Salt Lake City Summer League games

LAWRENCE — Ochai Agbaji got a taste of the business side of the NBA before he even played in his first regular season game.

Agbaji, who played four years of college basketball at Kansas, had been drafted in the first round of the 2022 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He later held his introductory press conference with the organization and there was a lot of buzz around what a rookie year in Cleveland might look like. And then, as the offseason continued, he became a part of the trade that sent Donovan Mitchell to the Cavaliers and Agbaji ended up with the Utah Jazz.

But Agbaji didn’t head to the Jazz never to be heard from again….
