Don’t understand why so many are convinced it had to happen in WCW.
Jericho was there for just three years. Most of that time he was a cruiserweight. He never rose above US title level and never got to work with top guys; he couldn’t even get a squash match against Goldberg. Except for some early matches against Sean Waltman he was nowhere near the NWO angle…thankfully for his future career I suspect.
Sting didn’t even wrestle for an entire year of Jericho’s time in WCW. He didn’t wrestle cruiserweights or down at the US title level. He worked pretty much exclusively against top guys and was always tied up in the NWO storylines.
I can’t even think of a time it would’ve made sense for them to hook up…though I’ll grant plenty of things that didn’t make sense happened in the three hour Nitro era.
My first thought seeing Sting and Jericho together was “I don’t think this ever happened before.” Until someone shows otherwise with a specific time and place they matched up I’m sticking with it.
Sting is the G.O.A.T in wrestling. Would like to see Goldberg in the match some how. He deserves a retirement match as well.
