Thomas Michael Burger – Monessen

Thomas Michael Burger, 96, of Monessen, died on Thursday, July 6, in his residence. Born in Monessen on Aug. 30, 1926, he was the son of the late George and Anna Kusar Burger. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and the Monessen Hungarian Club. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Thomas, along with his wife, enjoyed polka and jitterbug dancing. He was a devoted grandfather, babysitting, attending sporting events and was affectionately called “G.” Tom was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He retired from United Mine Workers Local 1197, where he was honored as the longest-serving member with over 53 years of continuous service. Besides his parents, he was predeceased in death by three brothers, Joseph, Frank and George; and a sister, Mary Kugler. He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Dolly” Kovach Burger; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Ron Todaro of Greensburg and Valerie and Terry Burger-Carroll of Bethel…
